Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center, Israel (HUMC)

HUMC, a private non-profit organization founded in 1912, is the largest medical centre in Jerusalem, a tertiary referral centre affiliated with the Hebrew University (HUJI) Faculty of Medicine. This allows sharing research facilities between the institutions.

Hadassah Cardiovascular Research Center (HCVRC), within the Hadassah Heart Institute, performs basic and translational research. It employs 26 researchers and technicians. Its laboratories are dedicated to molecular biology, cardiac physiology and cell culture. It has extensive laboratory space and state of the art facilities to perform all basic molecular biology experiments. It also has an SPF-approved small-animal operating suite. The institute has a clinical research center, with experienced research coordinators. All physicians and researchers are GCP certified Tasks: We will contribute to the following areas of research: Explore mechanisms of the cellular immune responses in atherosclerosis towards the periodontal pathogen P. gingivalis; our established mouse model of atherosclerosis – LDLR-/- mice will be used; clinical research on patients with proven atherosclerosis and explore the cellular immune responses towards periodontal pathogens.
