University of Bergen, Norway (UiB)

The University of Bergen (UiB) is a young, modern university with about 14 500 students and 3,200 faculty and staff, making it a medium sized European University. Six faculties cover most of the traditional university disciplines. Within the faculties are included 40 different specialized departments, multi-disciplinary research centres and institutes. The University is engaged in the European Union's Framework programmes for research and technological development and has been designated as a European Research Infrastructure and a Research Training Site in several scientific fields. UiB is currently involved in 78 FP7 projects, 22 of which it coordinates, among them UiB hosts 5 ERC Advanced Grants.
The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (MOF) consist of 8 departments and has about 1800 students. The faculty’s strategies include focused translational research to generate new knowledge and best practice for clinical studies and trials and the development of methodological platforms. MOF hosts several national platforms including Bioinformatics, Microarray, Molecular Imaging, Proteomics and Human Biobanks. MOF is involved in 16 EU projects (Health, Marie Curie IRSES, IEF, ITN and NMP); 2 of which it coordinates in the programs Health and 2 MC-IEF and 1 ERC Advanced Grant.
